Ownership

In the time I have been writing content for Gym it 24/7, a lot more people have been feeling the need to spark conversation on working out and becoming more active and I love it! It shows that people are being inspired to become healthier and challenge their current lifestyle and even question it, which was one of the aims of my blog (yay to me!) BUT, with that being said I also get a lot of experts with doctorates in finer excuses, ignorance and pathetic justifications swarming me.

It will start as what seems to be a polite conversation of how they are inspired by what I do and how they want to improve themselves which I am all for, then this slowly turns into a venting session complaining about how they want to be healthy like me and as strong as me and as committed as me but 101 problems permit them from being able to do so… Then it takes a turn for the worst as they turn bitterly passive aggressive, trying to justify their life choices with poor excuses and if given the time like I have they could be active like me or as strong as me, as if I am to blame for their life choices.

These are the people that get to me, it’s not the fact that they think what I do is given to me or that they could be ‘better’ than me if they had ‘more time’ like me - not sure how I have more time than anyone else, I thought we all had the same time - it’s the lack of ownership.

I am not a shrink, I don’t want to hear about why you are unhealthy and how you have no intention in changing it. You don't need to prove yourself to me, I do what I do primarily because I enjoy it, not to give myself a pedestal to look down and judge you.

But if you do want to move forward and change your life in a healthy and active way I will listen. I am also not a guru but I will share tips and tricks that have helped me along the way.

So! Now my rant is over, below are 5 tips on how you can take ownership of being active.

  1. Control time
You have the same time as me and everyone else, no one is that special, not even me (cries silently) and it's up to you how you utilize that time.). If you really want something priorities it and sacrifice lesser tasks. Do you really need to refresh your Instagram for the 5th time to find yourself a half funny meme? It takes 30mins to have a workout and it could be something as simple as walking.

  1. Control space
You are not limited to designated only places to get fit and active, being active is bigger than the gym. The world is a gym if you see it and create it to be that way.

  1. Control yourself
You are in control of your actions your choices and your behavior, so if you want to get something done, it comes solely down to you, no justifications. You are in control of you, take charge! You want to become active then do it. Don’t let external factors become your excuses.

  1. Be powerful
Because you are in charge you have power in abundance a lot more than you realise. Don’t cloud your power with ignorance, you have the power to change and redirect life the way you see fit.

  1. Be Godly
You have the power to control space, time and yourself if you believe it, so whatever dream you have is attainable provided you put the work in, not excuses to get out.

You will only ever be a feature in someone else's life, but never will you be the main character.
Don't wait on a feature to be the hero in your story. You are the hero!
