The Z Saga Continues
Last time on DRAGONBA- Gym it 24/7 our young hero set out on his quest to tell the world how Dragonball made him the man he is today, but as great as his story was he wasn't finished. We continue on our young hero's journey but can he write something greater than last time? Will he be able to get his message out far and wide?
Find out this week on DRAGONBA- Gym it 24/7.
Hopefully you have read the previous post, if not check it out (click here), and after writing that a part 2 had to be done because if I talk about how the Dragonball franchise inspired me to become super then I can't leave out how the training inspired my workout because let's face it, who can not watch DBZ and not have the urge to want to be like a Z-warrior?
Many characters have influenced my training over the years but the first to teach me a lesson was Master Roshi aka Turtle Hermit, labeled God of martial arts, Goku's first official teacher.
Master Roshi told me “play well, eat well and rest well! That is the Turtle Master way” and those words spoke to me and have never left me. Simple but it's the simple things we often forget, all of one thing is not good for you it's all about balance and once you learn to master balance, life falls into place, when you are able to master the art of time management and dedication you will reap the rewards.
The second lesson that I was taught was not bound to a specific Z-warrior or teacher but a common theme which all characters used, outdoors.
If you want to be a Z-warrior or even unstoppable villain who told you, you would need a gym membership or even a dojo? I loved that fact that superhumans were able to be created costing nothing but their imagination on the environment around them;
Mountain - climb it
Jungle - run it
Rock - lift it
Tree - strike it
River - swim it
Wild animals - fight them (not advised)
Obviously as city folk, we are unable to do the wilderness training and survival but nonetheless, I took the essence of the training and adapted it to the city and this became the base foundation of my training mainly finding scaffolding bars to climb up and swing off of. Your health, fitness and dreams of becoming a Super Saiyan should not be governed by you being able to afford a gym membership!
Since we are on the topic of training for free, calisthenics, the art of working out using the body's resistance because how else do you create an epic montage of our heroes getting ready to battle the latest overpowered villain? Press ups, squats, situps, handstands, kicks, and punches for hours on end until the body collapses, this became the foundation of my training and strength which overtime progressed with more variations, reps, and weight. Is there any better way to train?
However, if there is one thing that has greatly influenced my training (and many other fans out there) it would have to be the gravity chamber, a machine capable of generating gravity more powerful than regular Earth gravity in order to become stronger, but sadly for me (and for many other fans out there) the gravity chamber is impossible to train in as it defies the laws of science, so the next best thing is weighted clothing.
I remember the first time I put on a weighted vest and instantly feeling like Goku and Krillin training with Master Roshi with turtle shells on their back getting ready to fight in the Tenkaichi Budokai (World Martial Arts Tournament) and then feeling like every Z-warrior in their specially designed weighted garments and then feeling like every Saiyan that went into the gravity chamber to reach there next peak in strength and life was complete, I had the tools to become superhuman, the 1st human to be on par with a Saiyan or a Namekian.
Now all I need is Piccolo's shoes.
If you incorporate any of Dragonballs training in your own training or have been inspired by the franchise let me know in the comment section below!
