What Is Calisthenics?

Since writing this blog I have mentioned countless times that I practice calisthenics but never took the time out to explain what it is, so today I will be answering the question, what is calisthenics?
The word calisthenics comes from the Greek ancient words: kalos (beauty) and sthenos (strength). These ancient words give a representation of what calisthenics is. “Gymnastic exercises to achieve bodily fitness and grace of movement.” In simple words: Body-weight Training.
The idea is to train only using your body as resistance and using few pieces of equipment as possible.
This can range from the easiest of exercises, press-ups, sit-ups, squats, to near superhuman level exercises planch, handstand press-ups, human flags.

Calisthenics requires strength/ power, flexibility/ mobility and balance. This is not something that's achieved in a day, but a lifetime. I believe it's a something you can only ever get better at and never truly master.
To me calisthenics is a way of life, I am forever training to master the unmasterable art. What I truly enjoy is the intensity of the training merged with the creativity.
Failure is a beautiful thing, If you never fail you will never be original.

We at gym it have also been working on an Instagram page dedicated to motivate people to work out and train more. click the link below to check it out.
